Blood pressure changes through the day. Movement, conversation, temperature, stress, sleep, meals, medication timing, and cuff placement can affect a reading.
Check technique first
- Use a cuff that fits the upper arm and place it on bare skin.
- Sit with back supported and feet flat.
- Support the arm at heart level.
- Remain still and silent during measurement.
Take two readings about one minute apart and log both. If results remain unexpectedly different across multiple properly performed sessions, contact your healthcare professional and ask whether to bring the monitor for comparison.
If a reading is unusually high or low, follow the plan your healthcare professional has given you. Seek urgent help for severe symptoms or when advised by local emergency guidance.
